William Reed Family Cemetery

Location: T-49-N; R-18-W; the southeast quarter of Section 7:

Area: Lamine Township. about six miles south of Arrow Rock, Missouri; of a Missouri River Bluff, on land owned by the Fritz Family. (1976)

In this cemetery, is buried David Jones, a Revolutionary War Soldier and his wife. He also was one of the first settlers of Lamine Township, coming in 1811. He also served during the War of 1812 with Capt. Cooper's Militia.

His son-in-law, William Reid, also came to Lamine Township in 1811. He and his wife, Anna, are buried here. He, too, served with Capt. Cooper in the war of 1812.

This cemetery is located on part of the old Reid Homestead. Also, buried here, is the first white child born on this side of the Missouri River and the first white child born in Cooper County, Missouri - Jesse Reid, born at Ft. McMahan in 1813.

This cemetery is in very poor condition; cattle are allowed to range over it. There are about nine graves marked with rough limestone markers; probably marking some of the graves listed above.
